Your teeth are designed to last a lifetime. Regular dental hygiene visits can help ensure your smile stays healthy and beautiful for years to come. Through frequent examinations and preventive care, the smile professionals at Heritage House Dental can detect oral health problems in their early stages, resulting in easier treatment with less discomfort.
Tooth decay prevention
During a preventive care visit, our dentist or dental hygienist will examine your teeth for signs of decay. The hygienist, who specializes in the cleaning and maintenance of teeth and gums, will remove any tartar, hardened plaque also known as calculus that has accumulated on your teeth.
Scaling
This process involves cleaning the crown of the tooth and below the gum line where plaque is often trapped. Our hygienist will polish your teeth after they are scaled. Children under 18 years of age will have fluoride applied to their teeth at the end of their visit.
Home care and proper brushing
At the end of a preventive care appointment, your dentist or hygienist will instruct you to follow proper home care and brushing techniques. If required, your dentist will also perform a final examination before you leave.
Periowave
Periowave is a quick and gentle technology that uses a non-thermal laser light to kill the bacteria associated with gum disease. This prevents the progression of periodontal disease and promotes quick healing.
ViziLite Plus
We use this specially designed light technology to conduct complete oral soft issue exams. In combination with a visual examination, ViziLite Plus can help us detect lesions and other abnormalities in your mouth. In some cases, these abnormalities could be signs of oral cancer, which has a 90% chance of being treated successfully if found early.
